We ate here two days in a row, need I say more?!Ok, ok, to be completely honest, it was the complementary apple fritters with apple butter that drew me back the 2nd day. Best apple fritters & best apple butter ever!!! (Apple butter one of the things we like about Cracker Barrel, Applewood Farmhouse is better!! We really like Cracker Barrel, but this beats Cracker Barrel hands down. BEEARE: extra sides are not .99 as the menu seems to indicate. We learned this the hard way the first visit. Ordered several extra sides, thinking .99 each was a good deal. Well, we were charged 2.49 & 3.49 each. That is not listed on the menu, only .99. The waiter explained .99 was upcharge for two premium sides. However that ONLY price for sides listed on menu. He would not correct it. Main reason I'm not giving 4.5 stars. Second day, nice waitress said for 4.99 we could add two sides plus an extra soup!!! (Where was she day 1? ;-)Anyway, setting is beautiful, picturesque, by a river, rolling lawns, Apple trees, hillside orchard with tractor working, numerous related shops. Beautiful display. Restaurant decor fitting. Apple themed everything. Food is great. Meal comes with complimentary apple julip, apple fritters & apple butter, vegetable or chicken noodle soup. Second visit we shared the sampler with chicken & dumplings, chicken pot pie, & fried chicken. Came with mashed potatoes & gravy plus one more side, we chose green beans. Added sides of creamed corn, sweet potato casserole (like dessert). We shall return...Now off to get one of those famed Apple Cider freezes for the road!!!
